  • The Official Website of the Michigan Professional Fire Fighters Union

There is now a single point of contact for first responder mental health resources in the State of Michigan!! Wayne State University is launching the Frontline strong together website and phone #. The website is fst5.org.
You can go there and get peer support contacts from across the state for yourself or if you need a CISM/peer support team to come out after a traumatic run, get mental health professionals, contact info as well who work with first responders that can help you through a tough time.
You also can either call +1 833-347-8766 or click on the link on the website and you will be connected 24/7 to a operator who is also a crisis counselor if you are in crisis or need help.
These operators are not only for those in a crisis, they can connect you with peer support, cism/peer support, traumatic call out and mental health professionals. In addition, they have resources for financial help, child care, substance abuse, caretakers and much more. These resources are for the first responders and their families. Please go to the website and use these resources. Now every first responder in the state of Michigan can get help and resources 24/7!!!.
Firefighters from the MPFFU helped to shape how this website and phone number worked and designed. If you use this and have any problems, contact info@fst5.org.

Thank you Senator Hertel, MPFFU President Matthew Sahr, MPFFU EMS Committee Chairman Monty Nye, and MPFFU Lobbyist

Melissa McKinley for all of your hard work in getting this bill introduced and passed into law.

    MDA Summer Camp 101
The MDA Summer Camp Program, operating for nearly 70 years, is a week-long, residential camp program available to youth ages 8-17 living with a neuromuscular disease. The program offers session options at fully accessible recreation facilities across the nation. Regardless of the session location, MDA Summer Camp is an inclusive environment where campers can freely express who they are and fully participate in both traditional and theme-based summer camp activities, adapted for all abilities. Sessions are lead, planned and implemented by MDA's Recreation Programs team, a group of professionals with experience leading recreation programs. While the MDA Summer Camp Program operates on national standards, each session may look and operate differently depending on facility requirements, facility features, facility staffing, number of program participants, volunteer support, etc.

    MPFFU LEGISLATIVE LOG - May 17, 2024

Rep. Mai Xiong (D-13) and Rep. Peter Herzberg (D-25) were seated Tuesday bringing Democrats back up to full majority with 56 -54 votes.

This week both the House and Senate began moving budgets out of the appropriations committees.   The legislature plans to pass their respective budgets in the next two weeks.  This will allow the budgets to be placed in conference committee to begin work finalizing the FY 25 budget.  We do expect budgets to be completed by the middle of June.  Next week, leadership has asked for any work in the policy committees to be paused thus there are no committee meetings posted for next week.
